About
My name is Becca and I started Brookfield Lane Co. in 2021. I’m 30 years old and have a bachelors in Business Management and Marketing. I’m married to the most supportive husband, Zac. We also welcomed our first daughter, Vienna in March and that’s when everything changed! Now more than ever, I want Brookfield Lane to thrive! I’m so committed to being around for my daughter, I went down to part time at my job (healthcare). I also created and grew a personal TikTok account (you can find that here) and joined forces with an all organic skincare company (take the free skincare quiz here) to see if all of these endeavors can contribute to me being home with my little princess.
What made you start?
I work in healthcare and was experiencing extreme burnout during the pandemic. I needed something to bring back some happiness so I started hand knitting blankets. I've always been crafty so I figured it would keep me busy. Family and friends started asking me to make them a blanket, and eventually it turned into an Etsy, then an Instagram and even TikTok and Facebook. I actually started looking forward to coming home and working my small business rather than just coming home and having anxiety about going back to work the next day.
Why Brookfield Lane?
I grew up my entire life in a house on Brookfield Lane. I was blessed enough to have an amazing childhood where my creativity was always encouraged. My time there has always meant so much to me, especially as I grow older I realize how lucky I really was so have a space in which I was praised when I expressed myself.
What's your favorite aspect of running a small business?
I love to give my followers some insight on small business with timelapse videos and behind the scenes. Most of all I LOVE packing orders. I spend so much time perfecting the order so the customer can be just as happy as I was to get their order!
What are your hopes for the future?
Ideally, I want Brookfield Lane Co. to grow big enough so I can run it full time as a stay at home mom. I'd like it to grow to the point where I can no longer run it out of our apartment and I'd have to own a house with a designated office space just for me. However, I never want to get to the point where I can't make the products myself. No matter how big we may grow, I will make and pack and ship each order with my own personal touch.
